Exploring the efficacy of Shaoyao Gancao decoction in treating lumbar disc herniation in Treatise on Cold Damage
探讨《伤寒论》中芍药甘草汤治疗腰椎间盘突出症的效果

摘要

目的 探究腰椎间盘突出症患者使用《伤寒论》中芍药甘草汤治疗的临床效果。方法 抽选本院收治腰椎间盘突出症患者共48例，时段2024年5月-2025年11月。依照随机数字表法划分2组各24例，对照组予以常规西药治疗，观察组在此基础予以芍药甘草汤治疗。根据治疗效果、疼痛症状、功能恢复情况对2组患者进行评价。结果 与对照组相比，观察组总有效率提高（P＜0.05）。与对照组相比，观察组治疗3d、7d、14d的疼痛数字评定量表（NRS）得分均下降（P＜0.05）。与对照组相比，观察组治疗后Oswestry功能障碍指数问卷表（ODI）下降，日本骨科协会功能评分（JOA）增加（P＜0.05）。结论 腰椎间盘突出症患者使用《伤寒论》芍药甘草汤治疗能进一步提升疗效，有效缓解症状，有利于腰椎功能恢复。

Abstract

Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of using the Peony and Licorice Decoction from Treatise on Cold Damage in the treatment of patients with lumbar disc herniation.
Methods A total of 48 patients with lumbar disc herniation admitted to our hospital from May 2024 to November 2025 were selected and randomly divided into two groups (24 cases each) using a random number table. The control group received conventional Western medication, while the observation group was additionally treated with the Peony and Licorice Decoction. The therapeutic outcomes, pain symptoms, and functional recovery of both groups were evaluated.
Results Compared to the control group, the observation group showed a higher overall effective rate (P < 0.05). At 3 days, 7 days, and 14 days of treatment, the observation group exhibited lower Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) scores for pain (P < 0.05). Additionally, the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) decreased and the Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) score increased in the observation group compared to the control group (P < 0.05).
Conclusion   The use of the Peony and Licorice Decoction from Treatise on Cold Damage in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation can further improve efficacy, effectively alleviate symptoms, and promote lumbar function recovery.
